Podcast White Noise Sound "Podcast #11"

"Each member of White Noise Sound has an eclectic taste in music. To try and deliver our musical influences to the reader summed up in only fifteen songs is a very difficult thing to do. However, we have decided to give it a go. Our musical influences come from numerous genres ; some of which include artists such as Mogwai, The Warlocks, Can, Hank Williams, Django Reinhardt, The Gun Club and The Byrds. As a result the songs are a mix which have heavily influenced who we are and more importantly the music that we make."

1. Beach Boys - Don’t Worry Baby
Could have picked so many Beach Boys songs, but this is just beautiful.

2. Jesus & Mary Chain - Catch Fire
Cool as fuck

3. The Fall - Blindness
Well, why wouldn’t we want to listen to Mark E. Smith ranting over a rumbling beat and filthy bass line.

4. Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues
Johnny cash is a legend ! There’s not much we can say about this song !

5. Brian Jonestown Massacre - That girl suicide
This song really grabs you instantly ! A perfect mix of 60’s psychedelia and 80’s shoe gaze !

6. Ride - Paralysed
The drums, song and lyrics are everything you could ask for or want in a song !

7. Super Furry Animals - Run ! Christian, Run !
Production is flawless. A Masterpiece !

8. John Cale - Big White Cloud
I have never heard strings as loud as this on a pop song. Shivers down my spine. I dare you not to weep !

9. Leonard Cohen - So Long, Marianne
The genius at his very best. I can’t think of a more beautiful record.

10. Godspeed You Black Emperor - Moya
This song starts with a droning string intro and builds into a sweeping orchestral masterpiece that has the potential to damage ears !

11. Velvet Underground - What Goes On (Live 1969)
The noise they make on this song is the reason why I have always wanted to be in a band. 9 minutes of sheer excitement. Puts the album version to shame.

12. Spacemen 3 - Mary Anne
A simple thundering bass line and hypnotic swirling guitars and synths - It’s hypnotic and is Spacemen 3 at their best !

13. Nancy and Lee - Down from Dover
Amazing lyrics and song by Dolly Parton, but the vocals by Nancy and Lee are incredible.

14. Sigur Ros - Vaka ()1
This is as close to perfection as it gets. Spars pianos and minimal vocals produced superbly.

15. My Bloody Valentine - I only said
This song and the whole album is just an amazing mix of beautiful vocals and intoxicating Lo Fi noises.
